Starbucks Cold Cup…Love it….

So…if any one knows me..they know I love me some Starbucks…and I love Starbucks cold cups…they keep drinks cold and don’t make a sweaty mess everywhere…they only problem is a lot of people like them (like the people at my work)…and it’s hard to keep track of which cup is mine…sure I can take an amazing Sharpie pen and write my name on it…and the problem would be solved…but that’s not fun…so I started thinking customize…yeah baby…I will be using the venti size for this post…Venti is always better…that means there is room for extra shots of espresso….and that = more fun…

Last 2011 holiday season Starbucks came out with a winter insert inside the cup…that’s how I knew customization could happen…perfect template right…take that bad boy out of your cup…go get some clear 12×12 scrapbook paper..and let’s do this… my scrapbook paper came with a protective coating on each side… leave that on for tracing… that way you won’t trace onto your nice clean clear paper…

Trace…trace away…easy right….

Get the scissors… it is time to cut…follow your trace lines..and cut…there may be some fining tuning you have to do during this step…after you are finished cutting out the insert…check the fit to the cup…make sure the insert sits all the way to the bottom of the cup nice and even…then check the fit at the top of the cup…you want to make sure that the top of the insert is below the threaded rim…be sure to put in the other piece of the cup and twist it together to make sure it screws back on tightly and all the way…I had to make some small adjustments on mine…

After the cutting is complete and you have removed the protective coating…the fun begins…the possibilities are endless…pick up some stickers from your local scrapbook store or craft store…get some letters and some borders…really get whatever you want…it’s your cup…and it’s about to get awesome….right?…okay so I suggest getting the stickers that have a clear background because they look better on the insert…for sure you should put something along the bottom on the cup because it is the most visible (there is no printed design on it)…yeah that’s it…

Yep…those are Mickey ears…I got inspired recently on a trip to the happiest place on earth…not to mention at the scrapbook store they had the cutest Mickey stickers and I had to get them…so now…just make your cup the way you want it….

Keep going add some more…okay so I know those black lines on the cup can be a bit of a problem…and that Mermaid logo (she is all up in your face..but I love her, because everything about her says Starbucks)…can be a problem too…you can either ignore them and just make your design…or incorporate them into your design…every once in a while I would wrap my insert around the outside of my cup and see where Mermaid chick is and where the black lines fall…and I would place my stickers in between…or around…

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E…Done…So originally I had planned for Mickey to be standing beside the Mermaid….but then something cool happened when I was putting my insert in and twisting the other part of the cup together….and so I thought…leaving it…genius…wanna see….two of the most greatest things mashing together…

Here’s the other side of the cup…like I said…have fun with it…see how the bottom is a great place to have a design…I wanna make more…the wheels are turning…

Hey…speaking of Mickey Mouse. Disneyland, and Starbucks….I just read that Starbucks is coming to Disney California Adventure…and also will be making its way to Disneyland…I think I am about to cry right now…tears of pure joy…it truly will be the happiest place on earth for me…and my coffee peeps out there…Don’t forget this summer at Disney California Adventure Cars Land is opening June 15, 2012…it will be something to check out…looks pretty cool…and  Buena Vista Street… will be opening this summer too…can’t wait…well enjoy your new customized cup…hope you love it…

  1. WOW great idea!!! Do you think you could post the template as a PDF? I have been trying to make my own template for my venti and grande ones, but mine did not come with that christmas insert. I would love it if I could get the template from you!!!

  2. You wouldn’t make another one of these that I could buy from you would you? My best friend loves Starbucks and Disney. I have searched everywhere for this cup on the internet and just learned that the picture I saw on Pinterest is apparently the cup you made.

    • Kelley,
I am not sure if the sticker I used is still available. I did give step by step instructions on how to make on this site. I will check into the sticker, and see if the cups are available. They are very popular at Christmas. Thanks!

      • I actually have a cup. If I can find the sticker I will be all set. I’m searching the Internet like crazy!

  3. I have the cold cup but not the insert and I want to make my own inserts for a lot of different holidays. Is there any way you can make the size template available for download?
